Celebrating Self-Worth in Christ
I am loved. Not because of what I do but because of who I belong to. It almost sounds counterintuitive to say that let alone believe it when we live in a culture that is so fixated on image and always striving to be the best. Ephesians 2:8 says, ‘For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast.’ (NIV) I cannot do anything to earn the love God has for me. I am adored, treasured and valued just as I am.
And that’s how God sees you as His daughter and as His delight. Your worth, your value as a woman and as a daughter of the Most High King is based on God’s unchanging nature. And God does not change. The Bible tells us that God is the same yesterday, today and forever. Self-worth in the world moves and changes all the time but that is not how God sees us—He sees us as redeemed and as chosen.
My prayer for you is that burden that weighs you down of having to do and be someone all the time will start to shift. That you will begin to move in His rhythm of grace and just be. It is an intentional shift of surrendering control and trusting that His love for you is complete. And with what He has called you to, may it be from a posture of sitting at His feet, knowing you are secure and at peace in His love rather than seeking approval or fearing failure.
